Hi, there! I'm a Biologist with a PhD in Genetics, passionate about understanding how species evolve using genomics approaches.
Specifically, my interest lies in transposable elements (the jumping genes) and how they are sometimes repurposed by host genomes, a process known as molecular co-option or domestication. I am also fascinated by noncoding RNAs, the molecules that control gene expression. Together, mobile elements and noncoding RNAs form a dynamic network of interactions, often leading to what I call intragenomic conflicts. Currently, I'm a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow in Alex de Mendoza's lab at Queen Mary University of London, UK. My project will investigate the role of small RNAs in immunity and regulation of giant endogenous viral elements in eukaryotes (#SMALLGIANT).
